ASTROLOGY BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
Updated: Oct 1, 2020
Here are some astrology books I have been reading and applying with my astrology practice (majority are Kabbalistic Astrology books, of course - but that list is for a different post). Most of these may not be suitable for beginners but if you really want to be serious with your astrology practice or even have a deeper love and appreciation of astrology, I guarantee you these are worth reading.
How To Read Your Astrological Chart by Donna Cunningham
Unlike other astrology chart reading books that will leave you even more confused and disoriented, Donna Cunningham breaks down astrology for the newbies who want to learn how to read their charts in the simplest way possible without drowning you with a sea of information.
The Stars Within You: A Modern Guide to Astrology by Juliana McCarthy
El Tarocchi, Arcane Senses and I have been obsessing over this book's smell - another deal breaker for us nerds. The Stars Within You by Juliana McCarthy is an easy read that is packed with ‘proper’ information about each sign, the planets and the works. If you are curious about astrology, also love mythology and don’t know where to start, I highly recommend this book.
INTERMEDIATE - EXPERT LEVEL:
Healing Pluto Problems by Donna Cunningham
Donna Cunningham's insightful healing book is about how Pluto aspects opens our eyes on issues about guilt, grief, abuse, co-dependency and manipulation using a 'less astrology language.'
The Inner Planets: Building Blocks Of Personal Reality by Liz Greene & Howard Sasportas
The authors are known for providing food for thought as they apply psychology and astrology together. This book, however, is a transcribed version of their seminars and not written in 'book format'.
Jung On Astrology by C.G. Jung
If you are a fan of Carl Jung, then I don't need to explain why you need to read this book.
Jung's Studies in Astrology : Prophecy, Magic, and the Qualities of Time by Liz Greene
If you are a fan of Carl Jung, then I don't need to explain why you need to read this book also. By the way, Liz Greene is a Jungian analyst and professional astrologer who received her Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the Association of Jungian Analysts in London in 1980 - this is why most of her books are good reads.
Moon Signs: The Key to Your Inner Life by Donna Cunningham
This book unravels lunar influences and how it affects our emotions, intuition, passions. If you're one those who 'hexed the moon', this book may provide reasons and explanations why you should not have done that in the first place. Geez.
Planets in Aspect: Understanding Your Inner Dynamics by Robert Pelletier
Robert Pelletier gives profound psychological explanations and approach on how planets interacts. Every major aspect is covered here.
Planets in Houses: Experiencing Your Environment by Robert Pelletier
A 'houses within houses' discussion by Robert Pelletier as he gives profound psychological explanations and on how planets interacts.
Planets in Love: Exploring Your Emotional and Sexual Needs by John Townley
This book provides information on how planets affects us in understanding our relationships, desires and hidden needs with ourselves and others.
Planets in Transit: Life Cycles for Living by Robert Hand
The transit bible - a great and insightful reference guide to all the major transits on the natal chart and the Ascendant and Midheaven.
Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil by Liz Greene
Astrologers for centuries have been reading this planet as a negative influence on people which causes the majority to fear limitations, boundaries and fear itself. Personally, Saturn is a favourite planet of mine (for obvious astrological and personal reasons). This book by Liz Greene gives you an in-depth holistic and Jungian approach on how Saturn teaches you to turn these annoying negative events in our lives into something meaningful and worth experiencing - leaving you with a newfound appreciation why Saturn is the great karma teacher.
Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul: Volume 1 by Jeffrey Wolf Greene
Jeffrey Wolf Greene gives a detailed narration and profound information about Pluto's intensity and power. This book will take you far (just as the planet itself), to help you understand your soul's evolution.
Pluto II: The Evolution of the Soul Through Relationships by Jeffrey Wolf Greene
If you have read Volume 1 then you should read Volume 2 as it talks about Pluto's influences on our relationships and the law behind it. This volume discusses your past life, karmic patterns and how your soul needs relationship/s to evolve.
Took me a while to decide which books to recommend because I wanted a set that would lay the groundwork for you when you finally reach the decision to start a long tedious, perhaps never-ending, yet fulfilling path on becoming an astrologer without wasting money on surface level astrology books. Also, since there are a lot of astrology books out there I have yet to read, rest assure that I will post more book recommendations in the future.
P.S. I'll post Kabbalistic Astrology books soon.
