SHADOW WORK BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
Updated: Sep 7, 2022

Here's an active list where I share books I've read and reviewed and books that I still haven't read but have plans to.

Tarot and Shadow Work for Activating Dynamic Power by Benebell Wen
I was introduced with Shadow Work back in 2017 through Benebell's class and that helped me formed my practice today. Benebell's skill in explaining things in detail is superb. There's a long tradition of witches and magical people doing shadow work and if you are reading this post, I suggest you start with yours today.

Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell
Amanda explains how cults work and how they managed to entice people into joining them (some even not knowing that they are). Cults usually target sad, depressed people wanting to belong and so they use "empowering and affirming" words to hook you in. It is a good eye-opener book that will help anyone especially in the woo woo community to be aware of their presence and influence.

Ego Is The Enemy by Robert Holiday
One of the things one must face when we do our shadow work is the ego. Robert Holiday explains how ego works and if you look at it, the massive title of the book itself test your ego whether you would want to buy this book and admit that your ego exists or ignore it.

Jung's Map of the Soul: An Introduction by Murray Stein
This is a good introduction book to Jung's theories and philosophies. By default, Jung's work is difficult to grasp but Murray Stein was able to ease you through it. If you are fascinated about Jung's work, start with this book.

The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene
Humans are social creatures by default and this book explains why we do what we do. This book covers the law of irrationality, narcissism, role-playing, compulsive behaviour, covetousness, shortsightedness, defensiveness, self-sabotage, repression, envy, grandiosity, gender rigidity, aimlessness, conformity, fickleness, aggression, generational myopia and death denial. Understanding our nature can help us avoid toxic relationships and develop boundaries.
