REVIEW: THE MUSE TAROT

June 29, 2017

Aura-Soma is a holistic soul therapy in which visual and non-visual vibrations of colour, crystals and natural aromas combine with light to harmonize body, mind and soul of humanity as defined and founded by Vicky Wall in 1983. The word Aura comes from the Latin meaning: akin to air, a slight breath, vapour or shimmer. Soma is the ancient Greek word for 'body', while in ancient Sanskrit it designates a mysterious drink that transports the soul into a Divine ecstasy. I wrote a blog about it here.

WHAT I LIKE:

1. THE ARTWORK & CARD STOCK.

The cards consists of the ff: 0 - 22 – The Major Arcana 23 - 49 – The Minor Arcana 50 - 64 – Ascended Masters (also minor Arcana) 65 - 78 – The Minor Arcana 79 - 99 – Major Arcana – Return Journey) – Beginning of the Archangels 100 - 117 Archangels. Mine only has up to card 114. There's always a new Archangel card per year. Artwork is by Pamela Matthews from New Zealand. The card size is bigger than your normal tarot deck and shuffling can be challenging.

Chris-Anne is truly a gifted artist and sacred creator.

The deck has a vertical box with a lid. You also get an extra postcard from her.

There are extra cards in the deck: first one is a card that explain which suit is which and the second card was another Empress card. The Muses are the Kings and they are in landscape form.

Pink gilded edges. Look how thick that deck is! Chris-Anne is known to have thick decks.

2. GUIDEBOOK

It is an easy-to-use (old school) manual (with binders) explaining card-by-card the traditional esoteric and artistic symbols they contain. The guidebook is sold separately.

3. AVAILABILITY

The Bottle Back version is no longer available but you can buy the Logo Back version here. Don't forget to get the guidebook and the new Archangel cards.

4. SHIPPING

Shipping is $35.70 from New Zealand and it took around 3 months to arrive.

5. THE INTERVIEW

INTRODUCE YOURSELF: The Hanged Muse

The Muse Tarot introduces itself as a guide to help you to release and see the world in a totally different perspective. As sacred creators this is crucial when you hit a road block in the middle of your project.

WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS? Temperance

Yes! I like that this deck will remind you to do everything in moderation and maintain balance. It will remind you what is too much or too little in your life.

WHAT ARE YOUR LIMITATIONS? The Empress

As the mother of the deck, The Empress card symbolises love for creation but she can smother you too much. As sacred creators, we can be guilty into pouring out too much energy in the beginning and having not enough energy to finish.

WHAT CAN I LEARN FROM YOU? Ace of Materials

The Ace of Materials is about planting seeds of inspiration and nurturing it to grow - that's the hard part. So I'm looking forward to learn how to nurture these seeds so I would be able to see what they look like when they're fully grown.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CONNECT WITH YOU? Muse of Voices

The best way to connect with this deck is to join her 'dance in the wind'. Use the wind to nudge you in the right direction as I create and let it lead me to the finish line.

OUTCOME OF OUR RELATIONSHIP: 9 of Inspirations

I so dig the 9 of Inspirations being the outcome of my relationship with the deck. It is true that creators tend to fade in the project creation in the end - we are so pumped at the beginning but it always takes us a long time to finish it (some actually don't). This is me precisely. I have a lot of projects that I started but didn't get to finish. The 9 of Inspirations reminds me to pick up the energy I left with these projects and finish them.

WHAT I HATE:

It's not 'hate' but more of a challenge to shuffle the cards.

SCORE: ★★★★★

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The deck costs $79, guidebook is $40 and shipping is $35.70. Total is expensive and for me worth it. I got a hold of a copy of the bottle back version which is no longer available today which is why I am super proud of it. The colour bottles are actually important if you are doing Aura-Soma. The new version has a logo back and comes with a pouch. To be honest I am having a collector's itch on the new version and thinking of getting it so the old version won't be ruined by my shuffling. This deck is not recommended for beginners because Aura-Soma Tarot is a new system itself.

That concludes my review of the Aura-Soma New Aeon Tarot.
